This rack has been designed to fill an important gap for the owners of Ram trucks - the lack of a ready-made and well thought out bed rack for these trucks. This rack is everything you want it to be when you need a rack, and is completely out of the way when you need open bed space.

The unique design of the rack and load-bearing crossbars allows the rack to be broken down for shipping or storage, and for the crossbars to be moved to any location along the length of the rack, or completely removed. This allows for full-height items to be loaded into the truck such as dirt bikes, and adds the utility that when a tall and bulky item is loaded into the bed, it can be surrounded by the crossbars to add stability to the item.

The front of the rack has a bent clearance to avoid blocking the third brake light (CHMSL), while tying the two sides together. The side bars are just high enough to keep any cargo such as a Rooftop Tent as low as we can to maintain a healthy center of gravity and to keep cargo accessible, while not restricting the driver's view through the rear window!

The base plates which mount the rack to the truck each have a welded tie-down tab to accept either hooks, rope or webbing to control any large cargo you may haul. These tabs are hand-deburred to prevent any abrasion or cutting of your rope or webbing.

Construction

The rack is formed from massive 2.0"x.120" DOM steel tubing to appropriately match the aesthetics and lines of the truck and to provide a very stout rack which requires no additional reinforcement or gusseting. The crossbars are constructed of 2.0x.120" DOM to provide high load capacity while keeping the crossbars lightweight. The rack and crossbars are all joined using custom roll-cage style tubing clamps - dead simple, reliable, extremely strong - which allow for the crossbars to be moved anywhere along the straight section of the rack or to be completely removed. Total weight of the rack and two crossbars with powder coating is just at 100lbs.

Installation: Using.250" thick steel base plates that contour to the factory bed lines, the base plates mount on top of the bed rails and have rubber isolator pads underneath to prevent scratches to the truck. The rear bracketry mounts inside the stake pockets to make a very stout assembly that can be used with the crossbars removed. The rack is mounted in place using 3/8" and 1/2" stainless steel bolts for a smooth and rust-free finish. Mounting is done through existing factory holes as well as a few new holes that will need to be drilled through the tops of the bed rails. All necessary hardware is included for installation.

Note: This rack fits Standard (non-RamBox) trucks with the 6'4" bed (shortbed) ONLY. Will fit Crew and Mega Cab trucks.

Fantastic overlanding rack!

Built better than the RTT I have mounted to it. A while back I boogied so hard that the bolts of my RTT pulled through the floor of the tent and my the tent flew off at 50 mph! The rack and mounts were perfectly solid, the tent itself failed! The design and quality build of the contour rack is second to none!
