Designed to replace the anemic OEM skid plate under the Power Wagons, our skid plate offers a massive upgrade in strength and build quality in a bolt-in package over the underbuilt factory offering.

While the factory provides unique crossmembers and protection for the Power Wagon chassis, one of these factory skid plates is formed from three separate tubular sections of thin-walled steel. These tubes are flattened where the fasteners join and suffer from several issues; the fastener heads are exposed, the tubes are not interconnected to reinforce each other, and under the weight of these trucks the factory skid plate simply buckles and fails, offering no real protection for the undercarriage.

Having seen these OEM skid plates fail regularly, we've determined to make a robust replacement with several improvements as noted below:

  1. Built to take the full weight of these heavy trucks, our skid plate is one homogenous system of A36 3/16" plate steel and 3/16" wall 1.5" square tubing, with 100% perimeter welding. This construction allows the entire skid plate to take the brunt of an impact, rather than only small and separate pieces.
  2. The innermost bar rests in a better position to protect the driveshaft.
  3. Heat buildup from the nearby exhaust is prevented by utilizing the OEM 3-bar concept rather than a flat plate.
  4. All bolt heads are fully recessed and protected from shearing damage from rocks.
  5. All approach/departure edges are sloped to prevent hanging up on obstacles.
  6. All sections maintain full structural value and are not flattened/thinned around fasteners like the OEM model.
  7. Drainage is prioritized, and large gravel-sized drains are provided to keep the skid plate free from debris buildup.
  8. This part mounts into OEM hole locations and does not require any modification of your vehicle. Bolt in and go!

Excellent product

Excellent product, once you feel the box and pull that plate out you know you’ve got something far better than what you see from factory. Plate was super easy to install. The factory bars are far inferior as you feel the weigh difference and how they have weak points and too far of a spread. This new plate kills two birds w one stone, better lengthwise protection and protection between the square tubing vs. factory spread. Very satisfied

How It Should Have Come From The Factory

Dethloff MFG's 3 bar skid plate is a much needed upgrade from the single ply skids that Ram calls "armor". The OEM tubes take one hit and they bend right out of the way. I put the upgraded 3 bar skid on in under 15 minutes and immediately went out to beat on it. It gave me piece of mind while crawling through rock sluices at night, allowing me to pick lines and not worry about taking out my parts of my drivetrain. This is truly a heavy duty skid for a heavy duty truck.

3 bar skid plate

I just installed the three bar skid plate on my 2024 Power Wagon last week and it is very heavy duty and well constructed. It is a vast improvement over the factory skid plate. The installation was straightforward and came with detailed instructions and pictures. When I did have a question, technical support was only a text message away.

STOUT Replacement for the Factory Three Bar Skid

I was bending the factory bars so this was a no brainer. The new Dethloff Mfg. piece is solid AND provides more coverage. If you're "using" your truck I'd highly recommend this upgrade! Packaging was very good, instructions and installation were a snap.

Highly recommend these skid plates!

I purchased the 3 skid plate armor package for my 2022 Powerwagon. Shipping was quick. All 3 skid plates showed up packaged very well. The skid plates are built well and bulletproof. It's kind of a shame nobody will see them. I also have the rear shock guards to protect my King shocks. I installed all 3 skid plates in my driveway by myself. It took about 1.5 hours total and I was in no rush. Instructions were clear and concise. Everything bolted up easily. Two people with a lift could do it in 30 minutes. I highly recommend Dethloff skid plates if you're going to wheel your Powerwagon. Next up will be their sliders.

Awesome Skidplate !

Recently installed the skidplate on my 2023 Power Wagon, could not be happier. Like all of Dethloff Mfg products, well tested and thought out. Top notch construction, bolted up with no issues and access to oil pan drain plug is excellent. Highly recommended !!
